Managing Interruptions

In todays world we have more interruptions than ever before. Even though we have more technology to help us become more efficient, we are becoming less productive because of the number of interruptions these cause us. Lets take for example an office worker who checks their email every time they get one and never really doing any work of real value. Today we are letting emails, phone calls and distractions run our lives and reacting to these things as if they are the most important things to get done.

I used to be in this position. Basically being available 24/7. I had an alert on my blackberry every time I got an email and would check it straight away. I would answer calls and reply to text messages instantly and would feel anxious if I didn't.

At the end of the day I would feel like I had got a lot done although when I reviewed my day I realized that I had not got any work done of real value towards my main goals. After reading some books on time management and productivity I learned a way to stop this happening. The method is actually very simple but it surprises me how many people are still available 24/7.

Make a list each day of the people you need to call or email. Now block out two times during the day when you will check email, make phone calls and answer phone calls. During this time you will go through your list and make all your calls at once. Make a habit of doing this only twice or three times a day. At first you may be tempted to answer all calls as they come or check email every half an hour but realize that this is just a habit and by sticking to the process it will eventually feel normal.

By adding this process you will get more important work done during the day and most importantly you will have more peace of mind. Start implementing this today!

Network Marketing Vs a Job

While growing up I was always told to find a good job. First I heard this in school and then from my parents. As I got older I relised that successful people didn't work in jobs and trade their time for money. They had money working for them resulting in more time and more money. I once heard a successful man say that J.O.B is an acronym for just over broke. To this day I don't know if he was joking.

When I was younger I believed that successful people were just lucky and maybe thought of a good idea which automatically made them millions of dollars without doing anything. As I started reading about such successful people I found that many of them hadn't even finished school and that many started from very poor beginnings. These were people such as Bill Gates, Richard Branson and Henry Ford to name a few.

One thing that these guys had in common were that they were all big business owners. They did not have typical 9-5 jobs. On top of that, they all were very passionate about what they did. I would confidently say that 90% of people I talk to say they dislike their jobs.

After reading a few books by Robert Kiyosaki, I learned that the best way to become rich is to start your own business. Unfortunately school doesn't teach people how to build a business and teaches people how to work for someone who owns a business.

My next challenge was how I was going to start a business. I didn't have any money and most business have high start up costs. About three months ago, I was cold called and asked to have a look at a business opportunity. Being as curious as I am I went to have a look. At first I was a little confused as to what this guy was showing me, but he then told me this business was called network marketing. Many people cringe in skepticism when they hear that word but this is when I got interested. I had read quite a few books by successful people highly recommending network marketing to individuals who want to start a business with low start up costs.

After a few days of thinking I decided to give it a try. Now three months later my life has completely changed. Not just financially but especially the personal development I have received from doing the business. These are a few reasons I would prefer doing a network marketing business than work in a typical 9-5 job.

1. Residual Income
In a typical 9-5 job, you are trading hours for money. Since there are only so many hours you can work, there is only so much you can earn. A network marketing business not only has you working, but a whole team of other people working on your behalf. The income is also residual which means that wether you are traveling or taking a week off work, you are still getting paid.

2. People That Inspire You
When I used to tell people my dreams, most people would laugh or comment on the unlikely hood of that happening. I then kept everything to myself and didn't even bother telling certain people as they would think I am a comedian. After joining USANA Health Sciences, I have met some wonderful people. All the people I work with inspire me. They all have big dreams like myself and it is great to mix with such great people. Now when people laugh at my dreams it is usually because they think they are so small.

3. Teaching You To Become a Leader
Going to school teaches you to become a servant. It teaches you to get a job and obey your boss. Network marketing teaches you now to be a leader. The people skills I have learned from Usana are just amazing. I would literally pay money to learn what I am learning. Network marketing teaches people how to develop other people to their full potential. It teaches you how to inspire other people and create other leaders.

4. They Don't Judge Your Past
To get a typical job you need a resume. They interview you and analyze wether you are right for the job. To join a network marketing business, you are not asked for a resume or past experience. All that matters is where you want to go. Usana is filled with different people from high school drop-outs to doctors and lawyers. I have met people in my company that have started from poor backgrounds yet are now making much more than doctors and lawyers.

These are just a few reasons I personally love the business. If you would like to learn more of the benefits of starting your own network marketing business then I would highly recommend Robert Kiyosaki's - Business School For People Who Like Helping People.

First Post

Welcome to my blog. My name is Danny Roth and this is my first time at making any kind of blog. Starting as a high school-drop out I believed I didn't have many options and that it was impossible to become successful. I lived a few years of my life working different jobs, all of which I disliked very much. I would hop from one job to another hoping that I would find somthing that I would enjoy. Unfortunately this never happened.

In 2008 I became an avid reader of personal development and business. Slowly I started applying what I was learning and became amazed at the changes I was making.

Right now I have a mission to achieve financial freedom through different business models including internet business, network marketing and traditional business. My ultimate dream is to start a company that teaches people how to achieve financial freedom and wealth through different business models. To become a teacher of this information I must first become successful myself to gain credibility. I believe that you cannot teach people how to do somthing that you haven't done yourself.

About three months ago I joined a network marketing company called USANA Health Sciences. This is the first business model I am working on. I am already very impressed with how everything is going and will post on this blog how things go.

On this blog I would like to post everything that I have learned in the past and anything I learn now that can help people increase their performance. I will also post articles on my journey to financial freedom. A lot of the articles I post now will be on increasing performance and network marketing. Later on I will write about other business topics although I will not do this until I am involved in them myself.

I hope this blog will inspire people to achieve more and provide some quality information to fast track your success.

Enjoy!
